Dr. Prahlad Ho MBBS(Hons) PhD BMedSc FRACP FRCPA
Dr Prahlad Ho is originally from Singapore and graduated with honours from the University of Melbourne. He completed his haematology training at the Austin and Northern Hospitals in Melbourne. He completed his PhD through the University of Melbourne in 2018 evaluating new biomarkers of thrombosis, through the Thrombosis Research Laboratory at Northern Health.
Dr Ho has been the Director of Haematology at Northern Health since 2016 and also the inaugural Director of Northern Pathology Victoria, a new public pathology service being set-up at Northern Health. Dr. Ho holds adjunct academic appointments at both the University of Melbourne and Monash University. Dr. Ho is a council member of the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand (THANZ) and Secretary of Australian/NZ chapter of International Union of Angiology.
Dr Ho is actively involved in clinical research and has published in multiple international peer-reviewed journals. He is in-charge of the NECTAR Research Unit at Northern Health and is the Principal Investigator in numerous malignant and non-malignant clinical trials. His specific interest is investigating new biomarkers of thrombosis, specifically global coagulation assays, which is further being developed through the special coagulation laboratory at Northern Pathology Victoria.
Director of Pathology/Head of Haematology & Transfusion Medicine
Dr. Frank Hong MBBS, FRACP, FRCPA
Dr. Hong has been working as a clinical haematologist at Northern Health since 2011. He also has a sessional appointment as Transfusion Medicine Specialist at Australian Red Cross Blood Service.
Before joining Northern Pathology Victoria, Dr Hong worked as a laboratory haematologist at Austin Pathology for a number of years.
Head of Chemical Pathology
Dr. Kay Weng Choy MBBS, FRCPA, FAACB
Dr. Choy graduated from the University of Melbourne and undertook training in Chemical Pathology at Monash Medical Centre. He gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 2019. He also has a sessional appointment at Dorevitch Pathology.
Head of Microbiology
Dr. Yvonne Hersusianto MBBS (Hons), FRACP, FRCPA, MPH
Dr. Hersusianto graduated with First Class Honours in Medicine from the University of Melbourne and undertook advanced training in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at St Vincent’s Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital. She gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 2012 and has worked in both private and public health sectors. In 2009, she also completed a Masters of Public Health in International Health, in keeping with her long standing interest in tropical infections and public health in developing countries.
Dr Teresa Leung
Dr Teresa Leung is a general haematologist with a broad range of clinical Haematology experiences. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Melbourne, and undertook her haematology training at institutions including Austin Hospital, (clinical and diagnostic laboratory haematology), as well as the Royal Melbourne Hospital (clinical haematology and bone marrow transplant service).
Dr Leung works both as a Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist at Northern Hospital Epping. She has a special interest in multiple myeloma and low grade lymphomas, and is a visiting haematologist to Alfred Health’s Myeloma clinic.
Dr Hui Yin Lim MBBS (Hons), BMedSci, FRACP, FRCPA – Consultant Haematologist (Thrombosis and Research Lead), PhD candidate & NHMRC/NHF scholar, Research Fellow (Australian Centre for Blood Diseases)
Dr Yin Lim is a clinical and laboratory haematologist with a special interest in Thrombosis and Haemostasis. She is pursuing a PhD in the evaluation of global coagulation assay in high risk cardiovascular patients and is a recipient of the co-funded National Health and Medical Research Council and Heart Foundation (NHMRC/NHF) Postgraduate scholarship.
