Northern Pathology Victoria (NPV) is the public pathology provider for Northern Health and our northern community. Established in January 2019, NPV has grown to meet the clinical needs of the Northern Health network.
NPV provides services to multiple integrated care centres: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Kilmore District Hospital, Craigieburn Community Hospital, Mernda Community Hospital and Bundoora Centre. The laboratory is located at Northern Hospital Epping, along with multiple collection centres across the group.
Our laboratory supports patient care by providing pathology testing focused on patient safety, clinical efficacy and quality reporting. NPV’s Core Laboratory uses state-of-the-art automation and cutting-edge molecular techniques to facilitate rapid diagnostic testing and microbial identification.
As a laboratory of an academic teaching hospital, we are focused on supporting the research development of new technologies, particularly in the field of thrombosis and cardiovascular medicine, supported by our thrombosis research laboratory and special coagulation services department.
The pathology service provides Haematology, Transfusion Medicine, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Anatomical Pathology testing for all in, out and private patients.
